Dawne Wheeler Reed
Hi and welcome! My name is Ms. Reed and I am pleased to serve the Johnson Elementary School Community as your Library Media Specialist. I work hard to help students explore books, enjoy reading, and become better readers. I also help students learn how to find and use information from more and more new sources all the time. I teach all grade levels, Pre-K - 5th. We cover an extensive Library Curriculum at each grade level. I also assist teachers with materials, literature, research, and technology. My combined Planning and Lunch period is from 12:00p.m. - 1:00p.m. each school day.
I am originally from Kentucky, which is why I chose the University of Kentucky as the Library's No Excuses University. The UK Wildcats basketball team is a special favorite! I earned an AB degree in K-12 Library Science and Secondary English at Eastern Kentucky University. Later I earned a MS in Juvenile Justice and a MAEd in Secondary Counseling. While in Kentucky, I was a high school, K-12, and elementary school Librarian. My husband and I moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 2000 and I was a middle school and elementary Librarian there. In 2008 I became LBJ's Elementary Librarian and I've enjoyed working here ever since. Please visit Johnson's Library when you come to school. Even if I am teaching a class at the time, you are welcome to come by and look around. Parents may borrow Library books, too! I look forward to meeting new parents and getting to see friends I've already met.
